JCS Fish understands that sustainability is a key priority for the modern seafood industry and for consumers. We aim to source our fish responsibly in a way that meets the needs of our customers and the community without harming the environment or compromising the needs of future generations.

As world population continues to grow and demand for seafood increases, aquaculture has an important role to play in meeting demand whilst at the same time reducing sourcing pressure on wild fish stocks. Farmed salmon is also a more efficient way of using resources to grow protein-rich food than the farming of land animals.

Our farmed salmon is sourced from a number of reputable producers in Scotland and Norway, all of whom are closely focused on efficient production with minimum impact on the environment and wild fish stocks.

Our Scottish suppliers are members of the Scottish Salmon Producers Organisation (SSPO), and required to participate in the Code of Good Practice for Scottish Finfish Aquaculture.

The salmon farming industry relies on marine raw material for feed, and consequently has a very strong economic motive to ensure that any wild fish stocks used for salmon feed are sustainably managed. We only buy from salmon suppliers who use feeds made with fishmeal sourced from fisheries that are properly and responsibly managed.
